Majority of UI lecturers are in support of indefinite strike

National body of ASUU had earlier directed a nationwide referendum to be conducted across different varsities whether the body should embark on a nationwide strike or not. This is coming after the Federal Government's failure to fulfill the 2009 agreement and 2013 memorandum of understanding(MoU).
The Vice Chancellor of the University Of Ibadan, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka has confirmed the rumors going around about majority of University Of Ibadan lecturers all voting for an indefinite strike.
He said “Branches of ASUU Nationwide apparently conducted a referendum yesterday on some of their outstanding grievances with the Federal Government. I learnt that in UI, majority voted overwhelmingly for a comprehensive, total and indefinite strike. ASUU National EXCO will meet over the weekend to collate the ballots from various branches. We pray for a divine intervention as it seems that’s the only thing now that can still possibly prevent a complete shutdown of the various campuses as from next week. We have our fingers crossed”.
We just have to wait whether there would be another ASUU saga or not.
