Hoodlums kill Pastor, chop off man's buttocks in deadly attack

A group of armed men in Ife, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, have killed a preacher, popularly known as Nnamani.
The hoodlums also shot and chopped off one Sunday Akpan’s left buttock.
It was learnt that the village hooligans had threatened few days earlier to deal with the preacher for ‘disturbing them with message about repentance.’
The Village Head, Chief Saturday Isemin, a retired assistant superintendent of police, told Southern City News in Ife on Thursday that the gangsters dragged the preacher to a bush near the back of a primary school in the night, where they killed him and hid his corpse.
“People saw some of those hooligans drag the preacher in the night to a bush where they killed him and hid his corpse. Since that time, nobody has said anything about the killing of the innocent man.
“His offence was that he used to disturb them with his preaching. They said that he would be going around asking people to give their lives to Christ,” he said.
Speaking on the attack on Akpan, the village head said he had been admitted in Etinan General Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.
He said Akpan could not sit on the bed except by lying down as his buttock had been cut off by the gang men.
A report signed by Investigation Police Officer, Mr. Dominic Asuquo, an inspector, indicated that Akpan was beaten with machete and shot on the right leg.
“The patient was attacked on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 5pm in Ife Town, Mkpat Enin LGA by gang men (six), three used guns and one Unyime also used machete.
Isemin said the problem started in the village when the youths locked and beat up the elders who were having an executive council meeting in the hall.
He added that a security guard who had the keys to the premises was severely beaten up and later they placed a table on his head on which one hefty member of the gang sat.
Speaking also, the youth president of Ife Town, Mr. Tony Akpan, said the police in the area had compromised as the boys wield guns at their presence.
He added that the policemen know the hoodlums by name.
He said, “There have been series of problems in our community starting from August 12 last year. We were at executive meeting at the council hall. The meeting started at 7am and after saying the prayer, we saw two men.
“Barely had the meeting started when the two men left and mobilised some of their members to our meeting place. They locked us up and gave all the elders, including me, thorough beating.
“We couldn’t call the police as they seized our phones. They carted away N305,000 that was in my bag which was supposed to be given to somebody.
“If not for one DSS personnel that wanted to see one of us by coming there, we don’t know what they would have done with us.
“What they told the DSS personnel was that they do not want us to be their leaders, saying we are thieves.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Chukwu Ikechukwu, said the police were not aware of crime in Ife.
He said he would wire the District Police Officer in the area for information on the crime.

They are not going to let Falz or any other privileged person take away the rights of those who have had to grind through life’s rough paths to come to a reasonable standard of living. To all that, there is the impulse to just say: “Shut. Up!”, but hey, you don’t shut people for holding what could appear wacky and madcap views. If you think of it, reaching out to explain why 9ice should be allowed to hail fraudsters in his song is not as absurd as taking a selfie of yourself and your crying children, while demanding the freedom of a notorious kidnapper. The rapper whose real name is Shawn Carter is updating the way he stylizes his famed moniker by adding a hyphen and spelling it out in all capital letters. The name change, which his rep confirmed to the Daily News, will be used on his recently announced and highly anticipated new album, “4:44,” which comes out on his streaming service Tidal on June 30. Death penalty for kidnap kingpin Evans

Kidnap kingpin, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans, who was arrested by the police for coordinating several high-profile kidnappings, armed robbery and murder within Lagos, Edo, Abia, Enugu and Anambra States might pay with his dear life. The Lagos Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has signed into law Life Imprisonment or death penalty for the offence of kidnap and forceful extortion in Lagos State as he signs into law the state kidnapping prohibition bill, 2016. The law provides for death penalty for kidnappers whose victims die in their custody, and life imprisonment for the act of kidnapping. This might affect the fate of Nigerian billionaire kidnapper, Evans who reportedly raked an aggregate of $6 million from the illicit career in about a decade. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the bill on January 5, 2017. The governor said that the law was enacted to address key issues bordering on security. He said that kidnapping had become a major threat to the safety of residents and, therefore, required decisive action by the government. “This law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom. “The law stipulates that, where a victim dies in the course of kidnapping, the suspect is liable on conviction to death. “Security is of utmost importance to our administration, and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody, who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos State. “Our justice system will be required to execute this law in absolute and make sure that any criminal caught faces the full wrath of the law,” he said. Based on this, it is very likely, George Evans gets a life imprisonment or death penalty sentence depending on the extent to which the accusations against him as well as confessions are backed with hard evidence and argued well in the court of law. This according to public opinions is very necessary to serve as a deterrent to other kidnappers operating freely across Nigeria under the guise of unemployment and high poverty rate in the country.

US grants Apostle suleiman Honorary citizenship

Alfa caught with fresh human head,other body parts for money ritual.

Rasheed Ajibade, who was caught with a fresh female head in Osun State recently, has explained that he planned to use the head and other body parts of the victims for money ritual after the ongoing Ramadan ends.
Ajibade, 38, an indigene of Ikirun in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State was caught with a fresh human head and other body parts like hands, lungs, liver and blood, which was kept inside a bottle, was arrested by the police in Osogbo on Wednesday during a stop and search operation.
The Alfa said he was also a herbalist.
He was arrested in an SUV, which he said belonged to his elder brother.
The gory human parts were found inside a small sack he kept in the vehicle.
Speaking with journalists at the Osun State Police Command headquarters, the suspect said he was not the one who butchered the victim but his client, who wanted the money ritual.
Ajibade said the client, who is also an Alfa and specialised in healing mentally challenged persons, simply brought the human parts to him and left.
He stated that he had intended to preserve the human parts until after the Ramadan when he would be free to use the parts for the ritual.
He, however, said the client, who he identified simply as Olorungbebe did not want the kind of ritual, which would bring small amounts of money but the one which would banish poverty from his life.
He said, “I am an Alfa and a herbalist. There is a man, who is also an Alfa; he came to my place and told me that he wanted to do money ritual. I told him that getting the materials needed for the ritual would be difficult but he agreed to bring the materials by himself.
“So, the man came on Wednesday morning from Aagba town with the human parts for the ritual. The body parts he brought are fresh human head, hands, inner parts and vagina. I did not know that he would bring the materials that morning.
“I told him that we are in the Ramadan period and he should wait till after Ramadan before I could do it. This is my first time of doing this kind of money ritual although I do other ones but not this type.
“The man told me he wanted to do money ritual and I told him the difficulty in finding the materials and he told me that he would get them and he did. I am a Muslim and I’m fasting also even when he brought the human parts I told him that this is not the time for such ‘work’.
“The man told me the situations of things in his life and pleaded with me to help him to do it. He did not want the kind of money rituals, which would not bring huge amount of money. He wanted the kind of ritual which brings huge amount of money.”
The interview session with journalists abruptly ended when the policemen, who arrested him asked him to pour the content of the bag on the ground for everybody to see. Despite wearing nose masks, most police officers present and journalists started retching while few other actually threw up due to the stench which oozed out of the sack.
The head was still dripping blood but the liver and the lungs were already decaying.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Finihan Adeoye, said the police would ensure that Olorungbebe was apprehended and the identity of the female victim was revealed.

26-year-old Zimbabwean, Charles Jambaya has lost his wife to another man after wagering her in a football bet. He had pledged his 22-year-old wife Caroline Shumba to another man over the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus. Jambaya made a verbal agreement with 30-year-old Eugene Gumbo that if Juventus lose the encounter he would give him his wife, while Gumbo wagered $500 in favour of a Madrid victory. Hell broke loose when Real Madrid defeated Juventus 4-1 and Eugene requested for his prize (Jambaya’s wife). The wife, who had no inkling she had been used as a wager in a bet, was stunned when Eugene told her that she had to go with him because he had won her as a prize in a football bet. She, however, refused to go with Eugene, seeking refuge with her aunt, who took the case to a traditional court. Jambaya told Chiefs at the Traditional Court he was not in a right state of mind when he made the pledge and he pleaded for mercy. Both men were fined an animal each.

Music career

Reekado Banks started his music career in 2008. He recorded his first set of songs. They were produced by his elder brother who also taught him the basics of writing songs, singing, and producing. But most of his works at that time were relatively unpopular. He came into the spotlight in 2014 after he was signed by Don Jazzy to Mavin Records. He got the deal after his songs were selected from over five thousand songs submitted to Mavins Record in an online search for the latest talent.

He will always be grateful to his brother because he was the one who submitted some of his songs into the quest. Now we are faced with an uneventful stretch of days before club football starts. Where is your face o' Lord? The Confederations Cup is the poor man's version of the World Cup. Friendly matches are boring as a Nigerian politician's speech.

For guys who are married or have girlfriends, there is no hiding place now. You will follow madam to every social outing and family event until you get tired of Jollof rice and beer. It's their time now. After enduring six months of weekend football and Champions League matches, it is now your time to watch E! or some senseless reality show.

For single guys, boredom has a new face. Watching old matches won't make things better and you are more than likely to lose your mind if you are monitoring the transfer window.

Football is an addiction and we are addicts. We need a weekly dose of games to keep us on a high. When football is over we have withdrawal pains. Symptoms include arguing over silly stats, old games and monitoring the transfer window every second.

The Nigerian Professional Football League would have helped to deal with our addiction but let's face it, Nigerian football is not on the same level as La Liga or the English Premier League.

It doesn't give us the same dose of adrenaline and tension that we are used to when watching our favourite team. As human beings, we are creatures of excitement. We live for the thrill and nerve-wracking moments, the pregnant silence when our favourite striker is one on one with a keeper.

No one has come up with the perfect antidote for post season blues. These next few weeks are going to be hard on us. The football games on TV will be pale in comparison to the no-nonsense footie during the regular league.

Here is to a few weeks in rehab till Ronaldo & co give us a shot of adrenaline again.

Ghanian church celebrates Chelsea Epl victory

Though the London-based club is kilometers away from the West African country, the fans of the club celebrated it gusto as the pastor preached the sermon under the theme ‘Learn to promote the success of others’.

The event, heavily publicized by another famous pastor, Rev. Azigiza Junior, who is an ardent Blues fan, saw supporters of some rival English sides also attending to hear the sermon.

Rev. Dr. Markwei told the title-starved fans of Arsenal and Manchester United who were in attendance that it is Godly to also celebrate the success of others.

“Fellowship with those who rejoice in your victory. They were 10th last year and we called them names thinking they can’t rise again but today here they are on top. With God nothing is impossible,” Rev. Markwei said in his sermon.

The Joint admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the most sought after universities in Nigeria.
According to JAMB'S statistics, University of Ilorin had the highest number of admission applications for any university in Nigeria between 2012 and 2016.
Premium Times recently obtained figure of 10 most sought-after universities in Nigeria in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
However, details for 2015 and 2017 were not included.
The statistics shows university of Ilorin leading the way as admission seekers' favourite for three years.
University of Benin only came behind in 2012.
Consequently, in all four years covered, UNILORIN had 411,340 or 25.76 per cent total applications for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
UNIBEN came second with a total of 331,178 or 20.56 per cent applications.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, had third highest number of aggregate applications of 305,790 or 18.65 per cent.
University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and University of Lagos respectively held the fourth and fifth places.
Imo state University, Owerri, was the only state university that appeared on the ranking twice, that is 2012 and 2013.

Nigerian doctor bombards patient with love messages. ..gets suspended.

hris Uzoh, 40, a Nigerian medical doctor in the UK has been banned from practice for one year for trying to woo his patient by bombarding her with messages.

Daily Mail reports that Uzoh had sent the patient up to 20 messages, and at a point sent flowers and a card in his bid to woo her.

Uzoh started sending the patient text messages after getting her number from her records. he bragged about being a ‘good-looking guy’ and spent six weeks pestering the woman to try and get a date and told her that he had ‘huge earning potential’.

He also claimed to be ‘the best in his medical school’ as well as having written ‘several well cited scientific publications’.

The General Practitioner from Great Sankey, near Warrington, Cheshire, sent a message to the patient after 30 minutes of attending to her. She was booked to him after she complained of abdominal pain.

‘Sorry for this text message but I saw you and liked you and thought we could go on a date on the future. I am single and looking for a serious relationship and not intending to mess about,’ the message read.

In another voice mail, Uzor said he wanted to ‘hear her voice before he went to work’.

‘I’ve been feeling like a schoolboy meeting a girl he fancied for the first time. I haven’t felt this way in a while,’ another text message read.

Uzoh sent a card and flowers to the patient and wrote: ‘I wonder how else I would have met you if not this way. My heart is pure, I care, I hope it would be possible to make you mine some day.’

When she told him to stop pestering her, he said: ‘I was trying to be romantic – I did not mean to be creepy. I was excited about you.’

In yet another message Uzoh said: ‘How is it possible that a good looking guy who is a doctor, who has a job with huge earning potential, who was the best graduating doctor in his medical school, who started out as a urological surgeon with several well-cited scientific publications, who thinks you beautiful and special, who wants you – and you wouldn’t give him a chance? I’ve been in a Toronto and I couldn’t stop thinking about you.’

When Uzoh did not stop, the patient reported him to his colleagues at the Murdishaw Health Centre in Runcorn and he was reported to the General Medical Council.

The patient said:

I was really shocked to get that initial message from him because I trusted him as a doctor.
If I got that message now there is no way I would respond. I was in a difficult position particularly at that point so seeing him taking an interest was a nice thing.
The next morning I woke up and there was a further text message and voicemail message.
I remember I was doing my make-up and getting ready for work and I saw that he was calling but I didn’t want to pick up. He left a message saying: ‘Hi, I just wanted to hear your voice before I start my day.
Everyday I looked at my phone there was something from him whether it be a text message, missed call or a voicemail message.
As soon as I knew the flowers had been sent I knew that they would be from Dr Uzoh – there weren’t many people who knew my address at the time.
You’re being too full on – I’ve only met you once and I was your patient!
Uzor who was found guilty of misconduct and suspended for 12 months, later quit his job and is now working in Toronto, Canada.

FG SET TO ESTABLISH SPECIAL SCHOOL FOR MARRIED WOMEN

The Federal Government will establish special schools for women who abandoned school to get married, Minister of Women Affairs has said.

“All women that married at early age will have the opportunity to continue with their education from their husbands houses.

“The schools will be in two categories so as to avoid problems emanating from the establishment of the schools.

“The first category is for those who started their schooling but due to one reason or the other dropped out.

“The other category is for the Adult Literacy classes that will be established in all local governments to assist women attain certain literacy level.

“In the Adult literacy schools, the women will also be empowered with skills training during their lessons.

“The women will be trained how to make soap, local soft drink, candle, pomade, cake, local hair dressing, tailoring and other small businesses.” the minister told newsmen on Thursday in Katsina.

Alhassan appealed to religious and traditional leaders to continue supporting ongoing efforts to boost the enrollment of the girl-child into schools nationwide.

She said that the education of female children was very important as such the leaders should encourage parents to send them to school.

UI STUDENTS UNION DISPELS RUMOUR OF UNION SUSPENSION. ...MAKES DEMAND.

Contrary to the announcement by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka on Tuesday, that the Students Union of the institution has been proscribed indefinitely, the Students Union President of the university, Comrade Aderemi Ojo has said that the union remains intact.

Ojo made this declaration while addressing a joint press conference organized by the union’s executive council and the Students Representative Council of the institution on Thursday in Ibadan.

Ojo who was flanked by Secretary of the union, Comrade Uchechukwu Augustine and Speaker of the SRC Comrade Ibrahim Asiwaju said it was wrong for the Vice Chancellor to make such statement without Senate approval which he said was against the university regulations.

He said that the union was not a cube of sugar which can be dissolved anyhow.

He added that it was unfortunate that the university is waging an already lost battle against his government which has just spent 24 days in office.

“We are yet to receive any letter to that effect, our union is not a cube of sugar which can just be dissolved anyhow. You know all over the world, you deal with documents, we are yet to receive any document to that effect.
Ojo in his five-page address said contrary to insinuation that he verbally embarrassed the VC, the only time he spoke during his inauguration was when he was called to read his speech, and that he did not even mention anything like VC.

“My administration, the patriotic intelligencia was sworn into office on May 8. 2017,  just 24 days ago. At the said swearing in ceremony, our plans and visions for the union were intelligently highlighted in my inaugural speech, full text of which were well circulated and can be easily retrieved from several news platforms that published it.
“Gentlemen of the press, contrary to the widely circulated but falsely concocted story of the much respected VC that I insulted him at the inauguration, the only time I spoke at the said event was to deliver my speech and no part either directly mentioned the VC or implied insulted him, his personality of his office.
“It is, therefore, both laughable and ridiculous to hear that the sole reason supposedly offered by the management for the purported suspension of the union after 24 days in office was that the President supposedly insulted the Honourable Vice Chancellor.
Ojo while speaking against unlawful victimization of students by the institution, its agents and the police both on and off campus informed that it was wrong for the institution to have claimed that the union directed students to act contrary to the institution’s regulations.
“It has also been suggested, quite wrongly by the university that the union directed students to act contrary to university regulations. However, it is right to affirm that we have only followed the laws made by the university itself and nothing else.
“For instance, the direction of the SU for all students in the hostels to use hot plates in the Kitchenettes which the management generously built was made on the foundation of the laws for the same is provided for in Chapter 6 of the Students Information Handbook written and circulated by the university itself and also the ethics governing the halls of residence on campus.
“The union was only advising students to the law abiding and thus help the management keep the law it has magnanimously drafted.
He informed that the union took several steps to prevail on the management to heed to the appeals of the union but to no avail, saying the Monday’s protest was peaceful and earlier approved by the congress of the union.
“The generality of students of UI are law abiding, peaceful but conscious… A students union congress was summoned on 27th May 2017…at the congress, it was resolved among others that the students’ identity card which is a standing levy in the fees of every student must be received before examinations commence.
“It was on this basis that the generality of students in a peaceful manner organized ourselves and proceeded on a peaceful protest on Democracy Day, May 29, 2017. Not one person was flogged, no shop was looted, no stone was thrown, no bottle broke, in fact the students marched with our hands in the air.
“Let it be known at this juncture that the university echelon was well intimated of the proposed protest, and even the VC had requested a night before that the protest be delayed so he could address the congress and concede to our demands. Myself and the Speaker intentionally stalled at the congress, awaiting the presence of the VC but we waited in vain as he did not pick his call again when dialed several times.
He said it was unfortunate that the university could announce their suspension without any formal document to that effect.

“It was a complete shock when the VC on Democracy Day undemocratically, solely and autocratically against university regulations and without any senate approval proceeded to announce at a broadcast on Diamond FM, the school radio that the school was being shut down. We have learnt that the approval for that action was granted a day after! That is obviously unheard of in sane societies.

“Reinstatement of all wrongfully and unjustly expelled or rusticated students by the university central student disciplinary committee.
“An immediate audit of the university bursary department, UI Ventures, UI Micro Finance Bank, office of the VC, office of DVC (administration), office of DVC (academic), office of Dean of Students, Hall management committee of all halls of residence.
“University central library should be open for use 24 hours everyday as stipulated in the students information handbook”.
